FERRARI MONDIAL T CABRIOLET

A mature sports car

YEAR: 1990

Easy to drive and handle, surprisingly agile: this Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet is an everyday historical car that might make you forget its real age, if not for the traditional manual transmission and the nostalgic pop-up lights, ready to appear whenever dipped headlights are needed—nowadays more often than back then, due to road laws.

More mature than the 308 and later the 328, the Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet is a 2+2 V8. This technical choice saw no replacement from 1993, when the mother company ceased its production, to 2008, when the California was introduced.
Throughout its 9 years of history, the Mondial Cabriolet was constantly modified and improved. It started its career as a Quattrovalvole (four valves) and was then enhanced and remodelled both in interior and aesthetic until it reached perfection with its last version, the Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet. The name comes from the T shape the longitudinally-mounted engine formed together with the transverse gearbox. This technical solution allowed the centre of gravity to drop by 12 cm, considerably increasing and improving internal space, handling, and consequently the driving experience at all speeds.

The soundtrack

I want to pay homage to this Italian masterpiece, icon of style and sportiness, with the great “I Like Chopin” from 1983 (the year when the Mondial Cabriolet was introduced) and a clip from the 1992 film “Scent Of A Woman“.

All that remains is to fold the hood and breathe the air of that magical period, nestled between the Yuppies of the 80s and the early 90s, when there was no trace left of Gazebo, and the stereo speakers of this Ferrari, fresh out of the dealership in 1990, played a more sophisticated “Vogue” by Madonna.
